Welcome to Tokon Kai Karate Academy
Tokon Kai Karate Academy is an Essex based family friendly Karate club. Our club teaches traditional Shotokan Karate techniques with the right blend of Kihon (basic training) mixed with real life self defence training. Our classes are generally designed to host both adults and children with ages ranging from 5 years old right up to 72 years of age.

SENSEI STEVE ROBERTS
Our Chief Instructor is Sensei Steve Roberts. He is currently ranked 9th Dan Black Belt and has 40 years + experience. He has won 4 World Titles in Shotokan Karate and has contacts with other Sensei’s all around the world. This means he runs courses abroad for other clubs, and hosts other Sensei’s from around the world who perform special lessons at Tokon Kai Karate Academy.
